Today I found 27 cents . . . 1 quarter & 2 pennies.

Walking to work this morning I picked up a very dirty penny from a gutter along Claredon St. About a 50 feet up the road I saw a guy pick up a dime that I had just spotted. We ended up chatting about found change until I got to the Back Bay T stop (he takes his found change and saves it until he has enough to buy a cup of coffee and then he spends it). He got the dime, but I got some good change stories from him.

In the afternoon I was at the Hanscom Federal Credit Union in the Federal Building and I found a quarter behind a change counting machine.

The final penny of the day came to me as I exited the Back Bay T stop for my walk home. Just after exiting the T stop I found a penny resting up on a building that is being renovated into lofts.

Today I found 14 cents . . . 1 dime & 4 pennies. One of the pennies was a Wheat Penny.

Penny number one for the day was found at the North Station terminal by a Dunkin Donuts coffee stand. Pennies two and three were found over my lunch break. I walked down to City Hall to meet a friend for lunch and the first lunch penny was found on a sidewalk. The second lunch penny (third of the day) was found on the ground by a cash register at a sandwich shop where we ate.

On the way home I found a 1953S Wheat Penny (a semi scarce date) on the floor of the Orange Line T. I had just gotten on at North Station and was heading to Back Bay when I spotted and retrieved the penny.

Closer to home I stopped in to Harry O’s, a local sub shop, and got some dinner and found 10 cents (a dime) on the floor by the counter where orders are placed.

Today I found 3 cents . . . all pennies.

The first two pennies were found along the walk to work this morning. Both were sitting at the base of a tree in some dirt on the sidewalk. This is a common spot where people place trash for pickup, so the pennies might have made it into someone’s trash the night before. The third penny of the day was found in the North Station terminal.

Today I found 2 cents . . . both pennies. Change was found in two states, Massachusetts and Maine.

I had to drive up to Portland, Maine this morning so I headed out early. Just outside of Boston I stopped at a 7-11 along US1 and found a penny in the parking lot (I also purchased a drink inside). Just after crossing the Maine boarder there was a 60-cent toll to pay along 95 North. After chucking my change into the basket I spotted and retrieved a penny from the side of the road.

Leaving Maine I encountered a minor annoyance. Just after pulling away from paying a toll I noticed that the guy had given me my change with a Canadian quarter. I understand that these things float around, but I thought that was kind of messed up for him to pawn it off on me. Sadly, I was no better of a person and at the next toll I paid with the aforementioned quarter.

Today I found 26 cents . . . 1 quarter & 1 penny.

The penny was found this morning on the platform at North Station. I wouldn’t have spotted it had I not stopped to tie my shoe. The quarter was found shortly thereafter, sitting on the ground in a walkway at the North Station terminal.

Today I found 31 cents . . . 1 quarter & 6 pennies.

This morning I did some grocery shopping and I found a very bent up penny at the base of a change counting machine at Super 88, a local grocery store. After bringing my groceries home I decided to walk around the neighborhood and learn some more of the area. Along the way I found 2 cents (both pennies) on the sidewalk, another penny outside a Whole Foods grocery store, and 25 cents (a quarter) sitting in a gutter on the way home.

In the evening I headed out to get some dinner and I found a penny in close proximity to a Silver Line bus stop on Washington St. I also found another penny sitting by a trash can at Harry O’s, a local sub shop.

Today I found 2 cents . . . both pennies.

For the second day in a row I found two pennies. This time, however, they were found at the Bostonian Market off of Tremont St. The first penny was spotted by the front cash register. It had fallen into a gum display. The second penny, which I must have missed on the way in, was located by the front door and I picked it up as I exited the store.

Today I found 2 cents . . . both pennies.

It was snowing this morning and the forecast was for eight to ten inches of snow so I knew I had to find my change early. Lucky for me I was able to spot and retrieve two pennies from the base of a McDonalds stand at North Station.

Today I found $1.41 . . . 4 dimes, 1 Eisenhower Silver Dollar coin, and 1 penny.

The first penny of the day was found by a parking meter on the way to work this morning. When I got to North Station I found a dime at the base of a T ticket machine. In a hallway connecting the North Station commuter rail building to the North Station T stop I found 20 cents (two dimes). I spotted the first one and when I went to retrieve it I found another dime directly in front of the first.

In the afternoon I headed to a local deli for lunch and found my fourth dime of the day; this one by the front counter where customers paid for their sandwiches. However, the best find of the day was the bicentennial Eisenhower silver dollar (the first such coin I have ever found). It was under a coin counting machine at the Hanscom Federal Credit Union, which is located in the Tip O’Neill Federal Building in downtown Boston. I stopped there to dump my first two boxes of pennies from last night and happily walked out with the silver dollar.

Today I found 1 cent . . . a penny.

Walking to work this morning this morning I retrieved a penny from the sidewalk. It was frozen to the ground, but a quick pry and it was mine.

This afternoon I paid a visit to my new local bank and received my first shipment of coins, eight boxes of pennies and two boxes of nickels. There is no parking near the bank and I ended up having to take the coins home on a cart in a box (about five blocks). I’m going to have to come up with a new plan for that, because it strikes me as semi-dangerous and it was a pain in the butt.

Results of the first two-penny boxes were not that impressive. I found a total of 21 wheat pennies and a ton of Canadian pennies (one of which was from 1931, so that was kind of neat).

Today I found 6 cents . . . all pennies.

This morning I picked up a penny by a T ticket machine at the New England Medical Center stop. At lunch I ran some errands and found another penny at 7-11, by the front register. On the way home I found two pennies at the North Station T stop (one in a hallway and the other after entering the turnstile. When I exited the T at the Back Bay/South End stop I found a penny on the platform and the final penny of the day was by a cash register at Foodies, a local grocery store.

Today I found 22 cents . . . 2 dimes & 2 pennies.

The first dime was found by a parking meter on Albany Street. I had just gotten done dropping off a set of Texas longhorns that were being mailed back to friends in Texas (sadly there is no room in my apartment for the aforementioned longhorns). On the way back I also found two pennies outside Stellas, a local restaurant. In the evening I found a dime on the sidewalk near my apartment. I was returning from doing laundry, but was able to get the dime and keep a hold of my just folded laundry.

Today I found 53 cents . . . 2 nickels, 1 dime, 1 quarter, and 8 pennies (The First Boston Change Cycle). I also found two foreign coins, which sadly will not count toward the daily totals.

A huge day of finds to report today . . . the day started with some grocery shopping at Stop & Shop, a local grocery store. There I found a penny at the base of a lotto machine. I then headed off on a day of adventure, but had to swing through the North Station T stop. At North Station I found 11 cents (one dime & one penny). The penny was by a McDonalds stand and the dime was by a Dunkin Donuts stand.

Since my beloved Orange Line was shut down today (at least on the parts that mattered to me) I had to catch the Green Line to Park Street and make a connection. The only good thing about this was that I got on the Green Line T and promptly found 10 cents (one nickel & five pennies) as I got onto the otherwise empty car.

In the evening Becca and I headed to the Kendall Square area of Cambridge. Cutting through a Marriott hotel I found a penny under a bench and later in the evening I found a nickel at the Kendall Square T stop.

The final find of the day was a 1976 bicentennial quarter, which I picked out of a gutter on my walk home.

The two foreign coins, a two-cent Euro and a five-cent Euro, were found in the reject slot of a coin counting machine at Super 88, a local grocery store. Although the foreign coins will not count toward the daily totals they have already been deposited into my “Not Change Cup,” keeper of such found items.

Today I found 4 cents . . . all pennies.

Lots of walking today, but not a lot of change to show for it. Becca was here to visit for the weekend and this morning we walked from the South End to the swanky part of Boston to preview an auction. Along the way I found a penny on the sidewalk.

Later in the day we stopped into a CVS and I found a penny at the base of a counter. Another penny was found shortly thereafter at the checkout line at Marshals, where I purchased a few more dress shirts for work.

The day ended with a ride home on the T and I found a penny by the exit door at the Back Bay/South End T stop. As I was exiting the T I spotted someone else retrieve a penny. He was faster than I was, but at least I had something to show for it when I hit the exit door.

In what is becoming a nice little spot for finding change I found a penny on the sidewalk outside of Foodies, a local grocery store. For lunch this afternoon I headed down to Quincy Market and along the way I found 11 cents (one dime & one penny) at the bases of two different parking meters. At lunch I found another penny by a food stand at Quincy Market.

In the evening I walked for some dinner and found a penny on a table at Harry O’s, a local sub shop, and then a dime on the sidewalk as I headed home.

Today I found 38 cents . . . 1 nickel, 1 quarter, and 8 pennies.

Walking to work this morning I found a shiny new penny outside of Foodies, a local grocery store. When I got to the Back Bay/South End T stop I found another three pennies near a bus stop. One of the pennies was a little frozen to the ground, but a quick pluck added it to the growing stash.

When I got to the North Station T stop I made my single largest Boston find to date, 31 cents (one nickel, one quarter, and one penny) by a commuter rail ticket window. In the evening I found another three pennies while walking around my neighborhood.

Today I found 16 cents . . . 1 nickel, 1 dime, and 1 penny.

I faced a tough decision today and there was no good answer. The neighborhood where I live requires a residential parking permit in order to park. There is only one street in a very large proximity in which I can park and be OK. Sufficed to say I have obtained a spot on that street and really don’t want to give it up. So, this morning I had to go to Target to get some necessary supplies. Instead of taking a quick drive I chose to take a slightly longer 1.5 mile walk.

At least the walk paid off . . . . at Target I found a dime by a checkout line and a penny by the door as I exited. On the way home I found a nickel (my first nickel as a Boston resident) in some grass right by a McDonalds parking lot.
