Today I found 13 Foreign Coins . . .

My plane left Atlanta Friday afternoon and arrived in Moscow, Russia on Saturday morning. There is an eight hour difference between Boston and Moscow. After clearing customs and taking the bags to the hotel the day was spent wandering around Moscow, mainly hitting Red Square and a few metro stops. Along the way I found my 13 coins. Broken down they are as follows:

Three 5 Kopeck Coins
Eight 10 Kopeck Coins
One 50 Kopeck Coin
One One Ruple Coin

That makes a grand total for the day of 2.45 Ruples. The curent exchange rate is about 30 ruples to the dollar, so a lot of coins does not translate to a lot of cash. Of course my standard rule is in effect and foreign coins do not count toward the daily totals.

Later in the evening I stopped in at 7-11 to get a drink and on the way out I spotted a penny on the floor. Were it not for a security guard kicking the penny I'm not sure if I would have noticed it. He kicked it (probably not on purpose) and it came to my general direction.

Today I found 19 cents . . . 1 nickel, 1 dime, and 4 pennies.

My first three pennies of the day were found at the New England Medical Center T stop. All three were on the ground by a ticket machine. It was very cold this morning and I had to remove my gloves to pick up the pennies, but it was obviously worth the time.

The next penny was also found at a T stop, this time at North Station. There is a giant fan at the station (obviously not on today) and the penny was at the base of that fan.

On the way home I decided to take the Silver Line bus, and as I stepped on there was 15 cents (one nickel & one dime) on the ground by the front steps. Perhaps someone dropped the change as they were trying to pay for their ticket. Either way, the 15 cents was added to the daily totals.
