Today I found 29 cents . . . 1 quarter and 4 pennies. This is the 1,399th consecutive day that I have found change, and I have just hit the $700 mark!

This afternoon I headed over to the Haymarket Farmers Market to purchase some fruit. Walking down the street I spotted and retrieved two pennies that were frozen to the ground. Down at Haymarket I found another penny outside a McDonalds and then another penny by the fruit stands.

In what was less than exciting Saturday evening I decided to do some laundry. It was my best decision of the week. After putting in my clothes to dry I sat down to wait and found a quarter at the base of my chair.

This morning I had to head up to Maine for work. At a toll booth in New Hampshire I found a penny on the road by a change deposit basket. On the way home I stopped at a car wash just outside of Boston and found the remaining 22 cents (two nickels, one dime, and two pennies).

Today I found 7 cents . . . 1 nickel & 2 pennies. I also found a Canadian penny and a Canadian dime. Sadly, the Canadian coins will not cound towards the daily totals.

This morning I found a US penny on the platform of the T at the New England Medical Center stop. A short time later I also found a Canadian penny there as well.

Later in the day I stopped in at my credit union. There I found a Canadian dime in the coin return slot of a change counting machine and then six cents (one nickel & one penny) under the machine.

Sadly, the Canadian change does not count toward the daily totals. However, both coins have already been deposited into my "Not Change Cup", keeper of such finds.

Thursday, January 22, 2009

Today I found 11 cents. . . 1 dime & 1 penny.

The penny was found this morning on the T platform at the New England Medical Center stop. I wouldn't have found the penny unless it was for the terrible T operator who saw me running to catch the train and then pulled away despite the fact that there was a jam ahead and he had no where to actually go. He sat there on the platform for a good 45 seconds, doors closed, just to spite us. Punk! Ah well, with the extra time on the platform I got my penny, so it was ok in the end.

The dime was found later in the day at my credit union. There is a trashcan next to a coin counting machine there and oftentimes people throw out coins that won't run through the machine. I always check the trashcan and found a dime there today. It was totally clean and must have just slipped in there.

The lone penny was found at 7-11 this evening. Over the past few days Boston got about a foot of snow, so outside change really wasn't an option. I stopped at a Walgreens and another 7-11 and found no change, but the second 7-11 paid off. The penny was on the ground by the front counter.

Today I found 102 Foreign Coins . . .

In my last full day in Russia the day was spent checking out some last minute sites around Moscow. Perhaps the highlight of the day was seeing Dead Lennin, which is something that I missed when I was in Moscow years ago. Perhaps the Russians knew that I was leaving and decided to throw coins all over the place in some type of elaborate send off. Whatever the reason, it was my best change day of the trip. Broken down, my change finds are as follows:

28 1 Kopeck Coins
Eight 5 Kopeck Coins
57 10 Kopeck Coins
Five 50 Kopeck Coins
Two 1 Ruple Coins
One coin of unknown origin
One 5 Kopeck coin from Kazackstan
