Today I found $1.11 cents . . . . . 3 nickels, 7 dimes, and 26 pennies.
At Randalls, a local grocery store, I found 38 cents (three dimes & eight pennies). All the change was stuck in and around a change counting machine. I had to take a few items to the post office and then went to the car wash next to the post office. There I found 12 cents (one nickel & seven pennies). The final find of the day was 61 cents (two nickels, four dimes, and 11 pennies), at the always-reliable Al Gator’s Car Wash.
So, here are my thoughts on my trip to Europe and my change streak. To recap, I have currently found change for 642 consecutive days (counting finds for today). Next week I’m going to Europe for two weeks and I wondered what effects the trip would have on my streak. The bottom line is that I have resolved that I will need to find change in foreign countries for my streak to continue. Although the foreign coins will not count toward the daily totals I have determined that change is change, regardless of value in my race. Thus, for the consecutive day streak to continue I will need to find foreign coinage.
That said, should I not find change one day I am willing to invoke Brian’s Foreign Soil No Change Act (FSNCA) and continue my streak, with the asterisk that it a consecutive finds in America streak only. It certainly wouldn’t be as rewarding as finding change in all the countries, but it seems like an acceptable compromise.
Just FYI, I’ll be spending time in Ireland, Italy, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Austria, and England. There will be a few other countries that I’ll be traveling through so hopefully I’ll have a good amount of foreign coins to report on upon my return. Of course I’m not leaving until next Tuesday, so for the next four days it is business as usual here at Race of the Century.

I really hope that you make it and find change every day.
A consecutive found change streak only in America doesn't have the same ring as a Found Change 2,308 days in a row - no caveat.
If you don't find change in Europe, as sad as it is to say, I think that you can no longer compare your streak to Cal Ripkin. It would be more like a consecutive games played at home, or a night. A streak with a caveat.
You need to make it happen! Those are your marching orders!
Also, since Chris might have limited access to Internet on his trip, I will give updates on my blog about his progress in Europe, if he calls me with the info.
Now if I do the laundry and find some change in my old jeans, does that count? And how about the days I don't go out anywhere? That would really break a streak.
Here's a tip for Europe: Get a small magnet on a string. Find out which european countries still have steel in their coinage. Look down the gutter drains.
When my brother lived in Germany he used to really stack it up in the gutters there. You just drop the magnet down between the grate and then pull up the coin.

Nice try, but to be found change it has to be lost, and not by yourself. If you check some of the first posts you will see the semi-official rules. I like the string and magnet idea. I'll check into that and hopefully the streak will stay alive.
