Today I found 2 foreıgn coins . . . sadly none count toward the daily totals, but the streak remains alive.

My first Turkish find of the day was a one cent Lira that was found on the patio of the restaurant where Becca and I had breakfast. The second coin was found while we walked along the Bosphorus, the straight that joins the Black Sea and the Sea of Marmara (and then the Medeteranian).

Picture of the day is perhaps one of the most famous sights in all of Istanbul, the Blue Mosque. Deceptively, it is not actually blue on the outside (lots of blue inside, however), but it is nevertheless quite an impressive sight:

Today I found 3 foreıgn coıns . . . sadly none count toward the daily totals, but the streak remains alive.

For the second day in a row I recorded three foreign coin finds. Today the coins were a Turkish five Lira coin (one that is not even in circulation these days), a five cent Turkish coin, and a 10 cent Turkish coin.

The first two coins were found on the Asia side of Istanbul. The first was in the street and was recovered as I walked to the bus stop. The second was behind a bench at the aforementioned bus stop. The final coin of the day was found by an ATM machine on the Europe sıde of Istanbul. The machine and coin were both located at a metro stop.

Tomorrow is my last partial day in Istanbul. From there it's off to Frankfurt for the evening, then to Barcelona, and a final stop in Shannon. Not sure what Internet will be like the rest of the trip, but ıf I don't post before then I'm back January 5th.

As for the picture of the day this shot was taken from at the Grand Bizaar in Istanbul. It is a picture of a stand that sold colorful Turkish lights:

Today I found 3 foreıgn coıns . . . sadly none count toward the daily totals, but the streak remains alive.

It was my first full day in Istanbul and I made good use of the day. I recorded my first find of the day, a two cent Euro, outside a museaum in the center of the city. The second coinö a 10 cent Turkish coin, was found at a train station that I passed through while seeing the sights.

The final coin was the most exciting of the day. Istanbul is the only city in the world that is in two continents, Europe and Asia. The third coin, a 25 cent Turkish coin, was found in the street on the Asian side of the city. That find marked my first ever Asia find!

For the picture of the day today I chose another shot of the Bosphorous, but this time you get a nice bird that was in the picture, as well as a better view of the city:

Greetings from İstanbul, Turkey. That ıs where I am today, but yesterday I spent the day ın Ireland and Germany. My change was found mostly at the airport ın Shannon, but a good chunk of change was also found ın Dublin, Ireland. I flew to Germany later ın the day, but found no change there.

Hoping to make things a bit interesting I'm going to include a picture a day of the city or cities that I visited. The picture today is of a bridge in Istanbul that stretches across the Bosphorus straight, linking the Asia side of Istanbul with the Europe side of Istanbul:

Anyhow, even though ıt's 5am ın Houston it ıs almost 1pm here, and I'm ready to go explore.

The first 10 cents of the day (one nickel & five pennies) were found at BWI. Another penny (a wheat penny) was found on the floor of the airplane that I took from BWI to Newark. The remaining change was found at Newark.

I found the nickel this afternoon at the post office in Tomball, TX. It was on the ground in close proximity to an automated stamp machine. Saturday, December 8, 2007

Today I found $1.73 . . . 3 nickels, 6 dimes, 2 quarters, and 48 pennies (The Peachy Change Cycle).

It wasn’t until this evening when I went to Kroger, a local grocery store, to recycle some plastics, that I recorded my first find. However, it was a good one as I recovered 27 cents (one dime & 17 pennies) from a change counting machine. The dime was under the machine and the 17 pennies were in the coin reject slot.

Following the trip to Kroger I headed to the post office to mail a few items and to pick up some Christmas stamps. In the coin return slot of a stamp machine I found 28 cents (one quarter & three pennies).

The remaining change was found at the car wash next to the post office. Usually I find a few coins on the ledge of car wash stations, but not today. All the change was found scattered about the ground (save for a nice little pile of pennies and a nickel that was sitting by a vacuum cleaner).

Friday, December 7, 2007

Today I found 94 cents . . . 1 nickel, 1 dime, 3 quarters, and 4 pennies (The Swell Change Cycle). I also found a $1 car wash token, which sadly will not count toward the daily totals.

The first 26 cents (one quarter & one penny) were found at the Moody Gardens in Galveston, TX. I was there with Becca and her mom to show them the Festival of Lights, an annual Christmas event where you walk around the area and look at elaborate light displays. The quarter was found on the ground in the gift shop and the penny was found on a sidewalk by the parking lot.

On the way home I stopped at JR’s Car Wash, the car wash next to my apartment complex, and found the remaining change. The dime and a quarter were atop ledges in different car wash stations and the remaining change was scattered about on the ground.

It was at JR’s Car Wash that I found the $1 car wash token. Not surpassingly, it was a token for JR’s. Although the token will not count toward the daily totals it has nevertheless already been deposited into my “Not Change Cup,” keeper of such found items.

Both coins were found in Madisonville, TX at Walker Pharmacy, located on Main Street. Madisonville, TX is a small town and I was there on business this afternoon. Both pennies were found at a Sonic that I stopped at on the way home from dinner. Becca and I had joined my co-worker Jennifer for dinner.
