Today I found 7 cents. . all pennies.

One of the things that I had been meaning to do for the past week or so was to go recycle some beer bottles that I had found around town. This morning I headed over to Liquor Land to deposit my bottles (I netted $1.70) and in addition to that I found a penny by the cash register.

After my recycling trip I headed over to the North Station area to catch a T toward Harvard. Outside the Federal Building I found a penny on the sidewalk. Once I got into Cambridge I found yet another penny on a bench outside the Harvard T stop.

I was in Harvard to meet up with a friend, who happens to be the boyfriend of fellow blogger Brookie. Following lunch I headed back to the Boston side of the river, swinging through Park Street where I found a penny by a T ticket machine.

Over at the Haymarket Market this afternoon I found a penny by a fruit stand. Walking back from Haymarket I stopped in at a 7-11, where I found my final two pennies of the day. The first was on the ground and the second was stuck in a candy display by the front counter.

This morning I found a penny walking to the Back Bay T stop. The penny was on the sidewalk near a pile of leaves. Another penny was found shortly thereafter at the Back Bay T stop. It was on the ground by a T ticket machine.

This afternoon I went out to lunch with some co-workers and I found a penny outside the office building on the sidewalk. Walking back from lunch I spotted and retrieved a nickel from the base of a parking meter.

The final find of the day, a dime, was found in the parking garage at my office. I had taken the T in, but a co-worker graciously offered to drive me home. If not for that the dime might still be sitting there on the ground.

Today I found 4 cents. . all pennies.

After a delicious breakfast buffet at a local Mexican restaurant Becca and I headed off to the Texans game. The Texans thumped the hapless Detroit Lions and I found two cents at Reliant Stadium, one penny in the upper concourse by a food stand and one penny in the lower concourse near a beer stand.

Walking back to the car I spotted and retrieved another two cents from the parking lot of a McDonald's which is right down by Reliant.

Old School blog readers will be happy to hear that co-worker Jennifer makes her long awaited reappearance. In the evening Becca and I joined former co-worker Jennifer for dinner. The dinner was fantastic, but understandably former co-worker Jennifer was distraught throughout the evening as I was going to have to go back to Boston and she would not get to see me for some time.

The entire purpose of my trip back to Houston was to attend a wedding of a friend, but I certainly managed to cram in a lot of excellent extras into my trip. The wedding was not until Saturday evening, so in the morning Becca and I headed over to a golf tournement where I managed a few Hall of Fame golf autographs.

Along the way we stopped at Sonic for breakfast and there I found six cents (all pennies).

The wedding was in the evening and it was great.

Today I found $1.40. . 2 nickels, 9 dimes, and 40 pennies. Change was found in two states, Massachusetts and Texas.

This morning I found a penny at North Station by a ticket machine. In the afternoon I headed over to Logan Airport to catch a flight to Houston for a wedding. At Logan I found 20 cents (two dimes) by a metal detector at the TSA Checkpoint.

Once in Houston Becca picked me up at the airport and we headed out for dinner and then a bit of change searching at all of my favorite old spots. Serious props to her for being kind enough to drive me around in my attempt to relive the change glory days.

After dinner I stopped in at Kroger, a local grocery store, and found a penny by a food display stand. Then it was off to three car washes: JR's, the car wash next to my old apartment complex, a no-name car wash on Louetta, and the car wash next to the post office. Respectively I found one cent (a penny), two cents (both pennies), and 18 cents (one dime and eight pennies).

The next stop was the post office where I found yet another penny. Then it was off to the two best car washes that I have ever known; Al Gator's Car Wash and The Kwick Kar Wash. At Al Gator's I found 53 cents (four dimes, one nickel, and eight pennies) and at the Kwick Kar Wash, which is always reliable, I found 34 cents (one nickel, two dimes, and nine pennies).

The final stop of the night was at Sonic, which is next to the Kwick Kar Wash. At Sonic I found nine cents (all pennies).

It was found as I walked through North Station this morning. The penny, a new looking 1982, was sitting beside a T ticket machine.

At the risk of presuming too much of the Phillies, with a 5-1 lead in the 9th inning, Race of the Century offers congratulations to Brian. Hope I didn't just jinx them . . . Lidge just gave up a single to start the inning.
