Today I found 2 cents . . . . both pennies. I also found a smushed elongated penny, which sadly will not count toward the daily totals.

Heading to the airport I found a penny at the State Street T Stop by a newspaper box. Once at the airport I found another penny by the TSA Checkpoint.

It was heading to the airport that I found the smushed elongated penny. It was on the street and was originally made at M&M World in New York. Sadly the smushed elongated penny will not count toward the daily totals, but it has already been placed in my “Not Change Cup,” keeper of such items.

I’m in for a very long day. My flight goes from Boston to Rome, and then from Rome to Bangkok. All told with the layover it is going to be about 24 hours of flying. Probably won’t be fun..

Today I found 2 cents . . . . both pennies.

The first penny was found this afternoon as I walked through North Station to purchase my monthly T pass. The second penny was also found at North Station, this time in the evening, as I headed home.

As promised here is a picture of the 1884 Indian Head Cent that I found yesterday:

To be honest the penny is actually nicer than the picture.

Tomorrow I head to Thailand and Cambodia for two weeks of vacation. Becca has a friend in Thailand, so that equates to a free place to stay (always a bonus for a vacation). Not sure what the posts will be like while I'm gone, but I'll have pleanty to report when I get back.

Today I found 23 cents . . . .1 dime & 13 pennies. One of the pennies was an 1884 Indian Head Cent!

Finally, a car wash in Boston! Living in Houston I found a great deal of change at car washes, but there just are not that many of them in the Boston area. However, today I had to drive up to drop off my car at a friends house in Beverly, MA, so I drove up Route 1. Along the way (perhaps somewhere near Lynn) there was a no-name car wash were I found 21 cents (one dime & 11 pennies).

Heading home I took the commuter rail to North Station and then hopped on a T. Getting onto the Orange Line T at North Station I found a penny by the train door.

Walking home I stopped at Harry O's, a local sub shop, to get some dinner. On the floor by the cash register was a penny, which I scooped and examined. It was the oldest coin I have found to date, a 124 year old 1884 Indian Head Cent. I wanted to take a picture of the coin to post, but my camera is being difficult right now. Perhaps tomorrow.

Today I found 6 cents. . . all pennies.

I decided to walk around the neighborhood a bit this afternoon, so I headed up towards Chinatown. Along the way I found all of my change. The first penny was on the sidewalk by a store front door. The second and third pennies were in some dirt by a tree. The remaining pennies were found outside a hotel in the street area where cabs would pull upto the hotel. Thankfully there were no cabs there at the time or I would not have spotted the change.

Walking to the post office this afternoon I spotted and retrieved a penny from the street. Ever since street cleaning in Boston has started my street pennies have been few and far between, so I was happy to make this find.

Today I found 26 cents. . . 2 nickels, 1 dime, and 6 pennies. I also found a Canadian penny and five tokens. Sadly, the Canadian penny and the tokens will not count toward the daily totals.

I finally made it to the doctor today and found out that I had bronchitis. Nice to know that what has been making me feel so bad for the past week can actually be treated!

On the way to the doctor's office I had to swing by my office and I stuck my head into the credit union there. In the change return slot of a change counting machine I found five tokens, a Canadian penny, and 12 cents (one dime & two stuck together pennies). Under the aforementioned machine I found an additional 10 cents (two nickels).

Walking to the doctor's office I found a penny on the sidewalk. I found yet another penny at the State Street T stop. Another single penny was found at Walgreens, where I went to go pick up some medicine that the doctor had given me. The final penny of the day was found at the Union Park Laundromat, where I went to wash some clothes this evening.

As noted earlier the five tokens and the Canadian penny will not count toward the daily total. If curious two of the tokens are from the Gameworks Studio in Las Vegas, NV and two are from a Jiffy Lube Car Wash in Front Royal, VA (I looked up the phone number to get that information). One of the tokens simply reads "No Cash Value" and has stars on the front. However, all tokens and the Canadian penny have already been placed into my "Not Change Cup," keeper of such found items.

Today I found 26 cents. . . 1 quarter & 1 penny.

Day number three of feeling bad. However, I did manage to drag myself to the Red Sox afternoon game today and it paid off, at least change wise. After the game I was walking around Fenway Park, America's Most Beloved Ballpark, and I found a quarter on the ground. On the way home I stopped at a convenience store for a drink and found a penny on the ground by a candy display.

Today I found 4 cents. . . all pennies.

For the second straight day in a row I feel like I was run over by a truck. Actually, I take that back . . . if I had been run over by a truck I would probably feel better than I do right now. I did get out for food and found four cents along the way. That is all.

A good day yesterday, baseball wise, was followed by a terrible day, health wise. I feel like I have been run over by a truck and didn't get out much today. Thankfully, as I went to the pharmacy this evening I found three cents, two pennies on the sidewalk and another penny by the cash register at Walgreens.

Monday, May 19, 2008 (The No Hitter)

Today I found 2 cents. . . both pennies.

My first find of the day didn't come until after 10pm when I was walking around the inside of Fenway Park, America's Most Beloved Ballpark, and I found a penny on the ground. I found my second penny on the sidewalk while walking home from the game.

However, the big story of the night is not my two cents, but the no-hitter thrown by Jon Lester, and seen by me. It's actually the second no-hitter that I have ever seen, but the first time that it was done by a single pitcher. I realized that it was a no-hitter in the fifth inning, probably a few innings before most people picked up on it.

Still, even with the advanced notice the entire game had the feel that it was going to be a no-hitter. The Royals just were not doing anything at the plate and there really were no tense moments. Great game, and always a cool thing to see.

Leaving my apartment for the game I spotted a dime on the steps around the second floor and then another dime on the sidewalk on the way to the game.

This morning I headed to the grocery store and found a dime under a change counting machine at Stop and Shop, a local grocery store. As I walked in I found another penny in close proximity to the front door. Walking a bit futher into the store I saw that there were two pennies on the ground by checkout line number nine. However, it was occupied and there was no way to get to the pennies. But, after I got my food I made sure to stand in line nine and the two pennies were still there. Right after swiping my credit card I made a clean grab and added the two pennies to my daily totals.

The next four pennies came in quick succession on the way home from dinner this evening. Today I found 46 cents. . . 2 nickels, 1 dime, 1 quarter, and 1 penny (The Trifecta Change Cycle). Change was found in three states (Virginia, New Jersey, and Massachusetts).

It was pouring rain as I left my hotel in DC this morning. However, things started looking up for me after I arrived at National Airport and found a quarter by an airport kiosk.

My flight had a layover in New Jersey and as I was walking from one gate to the other I found a total of 20 cents (two nickels & one dime) on the happy side of the TSA Checkpoint. All of the change was located under benches that people use to sit on to put their shoes back on after clearing security.

Back in Boston it had just started to rain as I got to my apartment. However, just before entering I found a penny on the sidewalk.

Today I found 80 cents. . . 1 nickel, 1 dime, 2 quarters, and 5 pennies (The Capital Change Cycle). Change was found in one state and Washington, DC.

When my plane landed in National Airport this afternoon I promptly found a quarter by a candy display at the airport. As the airport is actually located in Virginia, not Washington, DC, this made for a nice Virginia find.

As it so happened Becca was in town for her work, so I met up with her in the afternoon. On the way to meet up with her I found a penny by a parking meter in DC.

The rest of the change for the day, 54 cents (one nickel, two dimes, one quarter, and four pennies), was found at the Pentagon City Mall in Virginia. We stopped there as I had to get a few items for the next day. The vast majority of that change was found in the food court area.

The first penny of the day dind't come to me until this afternoon as I was leaving work and heading for the ballpark. It was found on a sidewalk between the Boston Gardens and the North Station terminal. The second and third pennies of the day were found outside Fenway Park, America's most beloved ballpark. The first Fenway penny was resting up against a nearby building the the second penny was at the base of a parking meter.

I have been to quite a few games at Fenway as of late, and have noticed that when the PA announcer comes on to welcome everyone he welcomes them to, "Fenway Park, America's most beloved ballpark." I don't know if there was a vote on this or not, but the Sox seem very passionate about this. Therefore, from this point forward, anytime I mention Fenway Park it will be followed by, "America's Most Beloved Ballpark."
